Can i use regular soap to wash my puppy or something else?

You can get puppy shampoo at wal-mart for about $3.....if you can't afford to buy the things that dogs NEED, then maybe you shouldn't own one.Can i use regular soap to wash my puppy or something else?
If you have a young puppy go to a pet store and find one that is safe for its age and weight. But if it is very young it isn't a good idea to bathe it. If it has a horrible flea problem and you need to wash it, use dial dishwashing soap, make sure you don't get it in its eyes! and try not to get its head to wet. start at the crown and work back to the tail. get a ring around the collar and that will stop fleas from going to the head. But seriously only bath it with dial if it has fleas, otherwise get a puppy shampoo and only bathe it when it really needs it, because it can catch a chill and get sick. Can i use regular soap to wash my puppy or something else?
use dog shampoo - you can usually find it at your vet's office or a pet store.
No, it's much too harsh for their skin. You need to buy dog shampoo.
I agree with goldwing...... baby shampoo is cheap and very gentle! :) Enjoy your new pup! :)
no they have many allergies use dog shampoo
If can effet the body odor and your puppy might shead. Go to the folling web page it might help www.puppycare.gov I hope this help good luck!
Use baby shampoo..works great, very gentle, and doesn't sting their eyes if it gets in them. Good luck
no more tears baby shampoo .
i would use dog shampoo with conditioner it makes their skin less itchy and less likely to have problems in the future with his her skin.
In a pinch or emergency you can use human shampoo or Dawn dish soap but it is really not something you want to do on a regular basis. Human shampoos are too harsh and have the wrong pH; even baby shampoo is not gentle enough. It strips the coat of natural oils needed for healthy skin.
They make puppy shampoo. go to the pet store and get some OK. All the other soaps and shampoo's are too harsh for your pups tender skin.
yes but it will be drying to the skin and coat. It would be good to use if you are trying to remove grease or oil. Home product wise you should use 1 oz of shampoo mixed with 15 oz of water. If you need to kill fleas use dish soap at the same dilution and let it sit on your dog for @ 5 - 7 minutes.( Then go to the vet and get front line pluse) The best products are made for dogs. I prefer Tropiclean products and Tomlyn Milk Bath products.
DONT WASH YOUR DOG! You can rinse him off, but soaps and shampoos deplete the natural oil in his coat and will make him smell worse in the long run. Unless he is ridiculously dirty from say skunk or dead animal, stay away from washing your dog.
No, you need a pet shampoo. If the pup is under twelve weeks old, a bath is likely not needed.
just use dog shampoo.
No! You will mess the puppy's coat up1 They have dog shampoo and we have regular shampoo!
I use people shampoo or baby wash on my dogs, but if cant get dog shampoo or baby shampoo then you can also use liquid dish washing soap.
You can, but it is good to get dog soap. At Petco and Pet Mart they have dog soap and you can probably find soap at you're local dog store.
